How we handle your personal data and your timepiece information.
Last updated: 3 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Watch Repair Maastricht ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses and protects your personal data when you contact us, request an estimate, send in a timepiece, buy or sell a watch, or use your online account (the Portal). We are the controller of your personal data. It should be read together with our Terms & Conditions.

2. What we collect
- Contact & identity details — your name, email, phone number and address.
- Timepiece information — brand, model, reference, serial/case number, condition, service history and photographs of your watch.
- Identity & provenance documents — for higher-value purchases and sales we may collect valid photo ID, proof of address and evidence of ownership, where needed to meet our legal and anti-money-laundering obligations (see clause 15 of our Terms).
- Account & Portal data — your login details, messages, quotations, invoices and order history. For business clients, your KvK and VAT numbers.
- Payment details — bank/IBAN details you give us for payment or a refund. We do not accept or store card numbers.
- Website data — basic technical information (such as your IP address, device and browser) and small preferences your browser stores locally.
3. Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To perform our agreement with you — preparing estimates, servicing, buying/selling/sourcing, and running the Portal (performance of a contract).
- To meet legal obligations — invoicing and tax, and identification/anti-money-laundering checks (legal obligation).
- To show our craftsmanship — we may publish photographs of timepieces we work on, with serial and case numbers removed (legitimate interest). You can object at any time — see clause 19 of our Terms.
- To keep our website secure and working (legitimate interest).
- Where we ask for it — for example before publishing content that could identify you personally (consent), which you may withdraw at any time.
4. Sharing your data
4.1 We do not sell your personal data. We share it only where necessary:
- with specialist subcontractors and carriers, where needed to carry out or return your work;
- with our bank, payment providers and accountant, for payment and bookkeeping;
- with authorities where we are required to by law.
5. Website, cookies and third parties
5.1 We keep this to a minimum and do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
5.2 Your browser stores a few small preferences on your own device — for example remembering that you closed the "We're hiring" bar or a temporary closure notice. These stay on your device.
5.3 Some content loads from third parties as you view our pages: fonts from Google Fonts, and the map on our Contact and Home pages from CARTO / OpenStreetMap. To deliver that content, these providers may receive your IP address.
6. How long we keep it
6.1 We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes above and to meet legal retention periods — for example, Dutch tax law requires us to keep invoices for seven (7) years, and identification/anti-money-laundering records for the period the law requires.
6.2 Photographs of timepieces may be kept for our portfolio unless and until you object.
7. Security
7.1 We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access.
8. Changes to this policy
8.1 We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is always available on our website.
